“Without the ability to understand ourselves, we inevitably become lost.”
During our last episode Conspiracy theories and paranormal encounters were at the top of our discussions as Tiff and I shared how the vices we thought we created in good defense, to protect ourselves, actually almost ruined our lives. When Tiffany realized that she was damaging relationships with people who thought highly of her and I realized that I kept giving my power away because of other people’s fears, when we both gained a sense of awareness it was only then we were able to intervene and take corrective action.
But, how did we do that? How did we become so aware to correct the bad habits we were creating? Unbeknownst to us we were leveraging techniques that Brianna Wiest discussed within her book, The Mountain is you. Today we are going to share with you how you can use some of the techniques she shared to help you get ahead of your destructive behaviors and sabotage them before you sabotage yourself.
To prepare for our discussions we recommend that you purchase and READ or listen to:

“To confront patterns of self-sabotage, we need to change the way we think. We have to become aware of our false beliefs and shift into a mindset that actually gets us to where we want to go.”
During our last couple of episodes we focused on habits, the good and the bad, and steps we could take to create more good habits and eliminate the bad ones. As we were learning about these habits we continually kept reverting back to the bad ones. It was at this point a thought came to mind that made me want to better understand the why behind our bad habits. Why do we create them? And how do we get ahead to ensure that we don’t permit them to surface, sabotaging our own efforts?
During this series we will learn about our behaviors and why do we develop behaviors that hinder our growth and the growth of others. In the book, The Mountain is You, Brianna Wiest will help us to better understand the WHY behind our actions so that we can get ahead of ourselves and prevent us from developing self sabotaging behaviors.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” ~ Carl Jung
Addictions, fixations, tendencies, weaknesses, enslavement, customs, no matter what you call it, the good and the bad, we all got’em.
Do you know what your habits are? Most of us don’t really identify the behaviors we have as a habit. Typically these behaviors that we develop start off small, shaping and molding itself in obscurity, until one day we find that it has grown into something that is either quite unmanageable and burdensome or it could be one that you have developed which provides you an infinite amount of success.
We will discuss the power of the mind and its impact on creating good habits and deconstructing the bad ones as we review Atomic Habits by James Clear. To prepare for our discussions get a head start on the readings by purchasing the book here:

“Men are born soft and supple; dead, they are stiff and hard. Plants are born tender and pliant; dead, they are brittle and dry. Thus whoever is stiff and inflexible is a disciple of death. Whoever is soft and yielding is a disciple of life. The hard and stiff will be broken. The soft and supple will prevail.” ~ LAO TZU
Last week we aired out our dirty laundry and shared a piece of our lives with you. We discussed ways in which we managed to tackle self improvement and where we faltered along the way. As with most people we navigated blindly and while we have both found success we wish we had a guide like James Clear to lead us there more effectively. Lucky for you our goal is to help you to take a more proactive approach in managing your life. We hope that you will find value in our discussions today and take with you some golden nuggets to help you along the way to creating and finding success within your life.
